It is possible to use the Freedom Filer home filing system without using hanging file folders? My filing cabinet doesn’t allow room for the hanging file tabs.
The issue to consider is that the pre-printed labels in the standard FreedomFiler Home Filing kit are 1/5 cut size (2 inches wide) which are the same width as standard hanging file tabs (1/5 cut) which typically come with hanging file folders you buy in the store. Most file folders, on the other hand, have 1/3 cut tabs. OPTIONS to consider: (1) Simply place the 1/5 size FreedomFiler tabs in your kit onto regular 1/3 cut file folders. Who cares that the labels don't use the entire tab space! (2) Purchase 1/5 cut file folders (yes you can find them if you search online). Then your pre-printed FreedomFiler labels will fit into the 1/5 tab spaces more tightly. (3) Purchase FreedomFiler 1/3 size labels, available in blank color-coded sheets (or special order a pre-printed home version). These wider labels will fit neatly across the full tab width of a typical 1/3 cut file folder.
